My daughter sometimes has trouble getting to sleep. And she knows it. And it seems like eons until she actually knocks out. Can anyone relate? Is there some magic formula or method to help your child fall asleep? What can you do?
For Chloe, it’s easy. On the nights when Daddy gets to put her to sleep, she says,
“Sing me a song.”
A few songs later, she’s blissfully swept away to Neverland.
Here’s a quick list of songs that I sing to her:
“Hosanna” by Christy Nockels.
This song, though not by Nockels, is the only song that seems to calm her down from hysterically crying “No sleep!” to a serene mood. Works 100% of the time.
“No One Higher/The Stand” medley by Steve Fee.
1) I like that guy.
2) I throw in the bridge to “Glory To God” as well, just to draw it out.
“Beautiful Things” by Gungor.
Funny story, one day, my wife played that song on the radio, and Chloe said, “No, Daddy’s song.”
How He Loves
I Could Sing Of Your Love Forever
So what am I saying? Instead of just regular lullabies, carry the Name of Jesus in choosing your songs to sing to your child. He or she will be eternally grateful.
