Save $700 On Photo-Editing Software

You like to mess around with photos?

I do.  But I don’t have $700 to drop on Photoshop.  So, what’s a guy to do?

I use GIMP, and I’ve been using it for years.  GIMP allows you to edit, resize, crop, add layers, move layers, add text, manipulate just about anything, and of course, touch-up and enhance.

Here are some before and afters of what I’ve done with it (but please remember, I’m just a novice):

Fly Away Original Photo
Airplanes Title Slide, Final

That’s not too much editing; I get that. Again, I’m only a novice.  But here’s something I did for a series on Best Friends:

Good Friends original
Title Slide, Final

And then, I made a series of images for a teaching I did called “Imagine.”  All of the images were made using GIMP.  From scratch.  But, instead of just showing you each of the 16 images (although I’d originally made 20+, some made the cutting room floor), I’ll show you the final video I then threw them into, using Windows Movie Maker.

Imagine Title

Get GIMP.  You’ll like it.
